Hen Parties

The General Stores is ideal for hen parties and lends itself to luxurious pampering and relaxing.

We can arrange in house cocktail training or chocolate tempering and truffle making, organise a burlesque dance class courtesy of Venus Noir, or arrange for you all to have a boudoir photoshoot with award-winning documentary and wedding image photographer, Morag MacDonald (You can see a copy of her book in the house or visit www.documentaryimage.co.uk).

Or you can just relax using the in house leisure facilities, hot tub, spa, mini gym, facial steamer and foot spa, have in-house treatments by Nikita Mundy of Salon FX, which we can arrange for you for £10.00 per head plus 10% booking fee.

For something more -do-it-yourself but extremely luxurious, you can order a Bathing Beauty Pamper Hamper at £10.00 per head, established by ex-international model, now osteopath and mother of three, Georgina Jones, with all the ingredients sourced from the North Wales hills and natural springs.

Products include Dirty Scrubber soap, Face scrub using natural Anglesey sea salt, make-your-own-according-to-skin-type face packs with clay and hand chopped herbs and a toner and face spritz to finish.

We can cater for you for £15.00 per head for a Mediteranean Tapas/Deli style buffet, £20.00 per head for a two course Moroccan buffet or £25.00 per head for a three course dinner – with a 10% booking fee & bridge/petrol fee and a 10% cash tip to be paid to staff on the night.

We can organise a  chocolate course for you, learning how to temper chocolates and make your own truffles complete with gold leaf  and fresh fruit and nuts dipped in crackle glaze – prices start at £15.00 per head depending on length of time desired and size of group, with a 10% booking fee.

Mitcheldean Soaps can come in and run a soap and body products making class, from £10.00 per head, with a 10% booking fee, using olive oil and lavendar, rosemary or rose petals picked in the garden of The General Stores.

We can arrange  a Burlesque Dancing class for you, depending on group size, from £15.00 per head or a Boudoir Photoshoot so you  leave with some beautifully shot images to remember the weekend by or some dance moves to impress friends and partners with – including learning how to twirl nipple tassles!

Or we can book an in-house trainer or hoola hoop class, from £10.00 per head or a master cocktail class – from £15.00 per head, depending on how many cocktails you want to learn and how many ifferent premium spirits, gommes, cordials and mixers are required.

Finally – if you want to go off site to do something together as a group you can pre-book activities at the Harts Barn cookery School, on the edge of Mitcheldean, with prices starting at £30.00 for an afternoon in the beautiful and well-equipped cookery school, with staggering views over the rolling hills and woodland beyond.

Classes can include a Vintage Tea Party, Cocktails and Canapes, Chocolate Heaven, Cook N Dine, Ready Steady Cook Challenge or a Craft Range.

Stag Bookings

We do accept Stag bookings, but preferably those with an older age range and gents looking for a relaxed or activity type weekend, with a more restrained attitude towards drinking.  The house is listed and is not intended for partying hard where guests may spill drinks, throw food or worse.

So for this reason we ask for a £50.00 per head additional security deposit for stag groups, against the house being left as it was found and there being no noise nuisance complaints from neighbours.  There is a 10.00pm curfew for the hot tub and a 12.00pm curfew on the garden.  If you think you may struggle to adhere to these terms then it is better if you don’t book!

That being said, there are some great activities locally, including Go-Ape! high wire adventure course, quad-biking, paint-balling and the more genteel clay pigeon shooting, ‘hock, stock and two smoked mackerels’ cookery session for chaps at Harts Barn Cookery School or a leisurely round of golf at the Herefordshire Golf Course, four miles away.

We can also provide three course dinners, or Very British BBQs with venison sausages, wild boar steaks and lamb and mint burgers – all from our very local village Butcher, Kevin.
