leisure & spa

The six-seater hot tub is next to the table & benches, catching overhead mid day sun & getting the last of the days rays too. A great spot for chatting to friends & family dining outside, or for lounging in the evening & looking up to clouds above & the hills beyond.

The Upper Malt House wc facilities off the open plan space feature panelling made from old window panels found in the barn prior to conversion, and is next to the spa, which has a two-seater infra red sauna cabin and a large steam sauna and power shower cabin.

The mini gym, on a mezzanine platform in The Upper Malt House, features a water rower, an exercise bike, a power plate and free weights. It also has books on holistic health, and the facial steamer and foot spa.

The pub sized pool table is situated in the Jovial Colliers, with leather sofas and a flat screen TV/DVD with surround sound. There is also a keyboard, a guitar, a ukelele (!) and lots of music books and various musical toys. It also has all the cocktail equipment, reference books and martini glasses for those keen to demonstrate their mixology skills.

The ground floor wet room offers a power shower, a wc & hand wash basin, with a flap down seat & grab rail for the less firm. This room is accessible from the garden, via the kitchen, for sun-bathers & hot-tub users, or directly from the twin blue bedroom. Doors from either side can be locked internally to allow access to which ever side is most suitable for guests.

In House Pamper treatments can be booked, such as mini pedicures, manicures, indian head massage and facials, by Nikita Mundy of Salon FX. We can co-ordinate this for you or Nikita can be contacted directly on 07540 450 957 – she also does one of the best deep tissue massages I have ever come across!

“Once upon a time I took my A levels and then a gap year… Courtesy of the BBC’s clothes show competition I ended up in London with Models One. The year was 1989.
My first job was for Company Magazine “Face of the 90’s.” I was quickly relocated to Milan then Paris, racking up campaigns for BURBERRY, EMPORIO ARMANI, DE BEERS DIAMONDS, and ITALIAN ELLE to name a few .
Quite a change from rural Dartmoor where I grew up.
During this time I was privileged to work with the world’s best photographers, designers, hair and makeup artists.
I also became a serious consumer of products…
I had always been interested in natural products those without harsh chemicals or synthetic fragrances. Whilst I was abroad I would mix up my own beauty products.
It was imperative that my skin was always in tip top condition a lot of my work was “beauty work”, the up close with nowhere to hide sort.
Remember, this was pre mass airbrushing and photoshop, we were still on manual SLR’s.
You were booked to be flawless – obviously, diet and lifestyle has a large part to play , but so does what you put on your skin.
I believe that a beauty product should be free from synthetic additives and have the ability to work on a THERAPEUTIC level, to do you good.
I also believe that we ALL need to be responsible for this planet, and as such, I aim to use packaging that is either reusable, recyclable or biodegradable.
My children are now out of nappies and free ranging, and my multidisciplinary complimentary healthcare clinic is up and running . I feel confident in my skills as an OSTEOPATH and I have found a few more minutes in the day to create my range of handmade soap, bath, and beauty products.
I am a micro producer that means short runs made by hand and limited stock, when it’s gone it’s gone!

Hot Tub Care and Use
• Please do not use the hot tub if you have been drinking alcohol, and please eat at the table and not in the tub.
• Please only use plastic beakers, found in the baskets in the kitchen, on and around the tub – both for your own safety and that of future guests in terms of broken glass
• Please shower before you enter the hot tub – this is for health and hygiene reasons – sun creams and body lotions alter the ph balance of the tub and make the water appear cloudy very quickly
• Please remove as much debris as possible from your feet before entering the hot tub
