lower malt house

The Lower Malt House

is the main way into the house when you arrive.  It houses the cocktail bar with a surprise selection of pamper gifts and artisan food and drink products – depending on the nature of the booking.

There is a wall mounted optic for six bottles of spirits and a comprehensive set of cocktail equipment and speed well behind the bar.  Please look after them!

We always leave out a questionnaire for guests too, as it helps us monitor response to the changes we make in the house.  Each questionnaire completed earns 5% off future bookings, and leaving us a review on trip adviser earns a further 10% off future bookings.

We really hope you feel able to do both these things, but if you have concerns whilst you are staying, please text us on 07971 249 726 or 07984 894 039, to see if we can help while you are still at the house.

Thank you.

The Lower Malt House open plan living area has three sets of French doors leading straight onto the garden.   There are two large leather sofas and a wall mounted TV, and of course the pool table.  Enjoy.

The Kitchen

is custom-made from turn of the century oak cabinets saved from demolition from a physics department.  It has a solid oak floor, washing machine, dishwasher, various other electrical appliances and can seat 8 around an old pine kitchen table.  It is set up essentially for baking, for preparing children’s tea before adults eat upstairs or for the cocktail bar.

The Lower Malt House Arts and Crafts Double Bedroom

is minimally furnished in vintage mahogany,  and has its own en-suite shower room with large over head rain shower, extra large shower tray, cloakroom wash basin and loo.  It has french doors opening onto the courtyard garden.

It is one of the quietest rooms in terms of traffic sounds, though leads off the communal social space and is below the main dining room, so is probably best for those likely to be up last!

It also has the luxury of having the early morning sunshine through the doors on a summers morning………….

The Lower Malt House Doves and Swans Bunk Room

is a bunk room with a double bed on the base of the bunks (from early 2013), allowing it to be used as a double or twin.  We wouldn’t recommend the room for 3 guests but if you want to share for a weekend, that is fine with us.

It is close to the pool room and shares the ‘fishes’ family bathroom downstairs.
