The Forest Web includes tourist information, local businesses, the history of the forest, maps, towns and villages, education, and local government.
The visitor centre shop is Forest Connections and is personally operated by its owners Derek and Elaine Yemm, and is growing to be the popular first port of call by visitors from all over the world. After October 2008, and a major refurbishment, the site became a flagship for the Forestry Commission with the addition of a new cafe and visitor centre shop.
Forest Connections is open every day from 10.00, excluding Christmas Day, and during winter months weather permitting.

The Forest of Dean is under threat as never before.
Government plans to sell it off will limit access and destroy centuries of tradition. The mixed broad-leaf and conifer woodlands, so well managed by the Forestry Commission as an amenity for all, will be ruined.
HOOF aims to keep the Forest as it is – publicly owned and publicly run by the Forestry Commission.
HOOF strategy is that government should respect the 1981 Act regarding the Forest of Dean and give it, and the other Heritage Forests, full protection from disposal.
HOOF believes that ownership by charitable trusts or private companies is both impractical and a road to ruin.

Caroline Anderson invites you to come and stay in her family home, between Mitcheldean and Ross-on-Wye, where you will be offered a very warm welcome. She moved from the Royal Forest of Dean where she and her husband created the highly acclaimed Gunn Mill House, picked by the editor of ‘Which’ as one of Britain’s top 20.
The AA has just reconfirmed Caroline’s egg cup award, denoting an outstanding breakfast and have now awarded her a casserole award, denoting an outstanding dinner. Less than 250 places in the country achieve these awards.
The ASHA Centre is located in the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, between the River Severn and River Wye.
As well as hosting courses, the Centre is available for hire. Corporations, charities and groups of individuals use the ASHA Centre for conferences, retreats and private functions.
All ASHA Centre profits go toward funding its pioneering leadership and personal development projects with young people from around the world, whose lives are transformed by the experiences they gain at the ASHA Centre.
The Asha Centre holds open days for local people and tourists to find out about their work & to enjoy their beautiful gardens, a cake & plant stall.
At Baileys Home and Garden Store, the things we sell are a surprising mix of vintage and new from a variety of sources – but they all share the qualities integral to our repair, reuse, rethink philosophy.
One of our favourite things is to reuse unloved bits and pieces (small or large) that we find on our travels, and give them a new lease of life – it’s our version of recycling… so abandoned bobbins from old textile mills turn up on our shelves as egg timers, lamp bases or string holders; scraps of floor board become mirror frames, tables or even kitchen units.
When we’re not rescuing and recycling, we design simple useful products with a subtle sense of humour and nice labels. We also source some things from small family run companies who have been making the same things for generations – such as beautiful Burleigh pottery – still made in Stoke-on-Trent.
Our biggest project so far has been the move to Whitecross Farm – it’s taken about 2 years to sympathetically restore and repair the run down buildings and turn them into our store, which is definitely worth a visit.
