You will find our prices and details on the availability form page above.  The payment terms and bank details will be on your booking confirmation form, once negotiated ia email, and which once issued needs to have 50% deposit payment made to confirm and the remaining 50% and the refundable damages bond to be paid 4 weeks prior to a stay. 

Holding deposits are payable at 50% of the price at time of booking, and are non–refundable. We recommend you take out your own holiday insurance for this if you wish.

The refundable security bond is payable into a client account, to be returned against the house being left as it was found.  House keepers and cleaners are employed to prepare the house for incoming guests not clear up after outgoing guests.  Additional work required cleaning up after departing guests will be charged for at a rate of £25.00 per hour for overtime and will be taken out of the refundable security bond.  Photographic proof will be provided for additional cleaning time.  It is a self-catering house, and as the name suggests, we expect guests to clear up themselves.  Arrival details are sent out once the damages bond is received.

When you are at the house you need to understand that there is no use of candles or smoking allowed in the house; we prefer guests not to bring their own electrical portable appliances; you must lock the house when leaving & not leave windows open at night or when out (rain or forced entry), and must not play excessively amplified music in the house etc and understand that there is a hot tub curfew of 10.00pm and a garden curfew of 12.00pm.  

Usual arrival is after 5.00pm and usual weekend departure 12.00 noon (categorically not earlier without prior arrangement as it is a working house until that point). Earlier or later times can be arranged for £100.00 per hour.   Monday or week day departure is usually by 10.00am. 

Please be aware that we have a resident Cat too – it is a very old property in a rural location with a lush garden, and he helps keep the ‘small creature’ population at bay.  

If you bring Dogs, please let us know in advance and do not let your dogs through the gate into the veg patch as this is the cat domain away from unfamiliar dogs. If there is damage as a result of your dogs, we will retain funds from your bond as we sit fit – with photographic evidence.  We also charge a fee of £25.00 per dog.

Arrival and departure details are sent out along with the key entry code, once you have returned the terms and conditions form with an electronic signature and a list of the e-mails addresses of your group.  This is a condition of our insurance policy as it is a large house.

I am a sole trader for Mill End house hire and I am VAT registered – VAT NO 239 6544 75

My partner is a sole trader for The Cottage.  He is not VAT registered.

Refundable Security bonds go into a client holding account and are not liable for VAT.  

Bordello Banquets, the sister catering company working in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, is a Limited Company and is not liable for VAT and if being employed by Mill End guests (or elsewhere in the South West) will invoice for their services separately.

You may be well advised to round up prices per head to the nearest £10 then if guests drop out you are some way to being covered! 

 


Our cancellation policy

Please be aware that we do not refund hire deposits made unless we are at fault and need to cancel.

We offer full transfer no less than 56 days of your intended stay date if you cancel. We offer 50% up to 28 days prior to your stay, and less than 28 days we do not offer transfer of any funds at all. We would recommend that you take out independent holiday insurance yourselves if you have concerns about this.  If you need to change the date of your booking, the transfer does need to be for the same calendar year.

Please BACS your refundable security deposit bond for £500 for Mill End, and £1,000 total if booking additional units too,  into my client holding bank account no less than four weeks prior to your stay, which will be returned by cheque, no less than two weeks after your stay, should there be no damage to or miss-use of the property and/or noise complaints from neighbours. We usually move into the cottage behind the main house when we have big bookings, and if we are disturbed, it means our neighbours are too, which means champagne and flowers for them after your stay. We also need lead time for laundry to be returned from the contract cleaners.

By making this security deposit payment you accept the terms that

a) we employ cleaners for 20 hours to turn around and prepare the house for incoming guests – any hours work required over and above that for stripping beds, cleaning, sorting or re-cycling will be deducted from your security deposit at a rate of £20.00 per hour

b) we employ cleaners to get the house ready for incoming guests, not to clear up after outgoing guests

c) anything that needs repairing will be charged for at a rate of £20.00 per hour & invoices for materials added

d) expenses incurred due to damage or miss-use over and above the security deposit paid, will be billed for

Please remember that the house is self-catering and therefore we expect guests to empty all the bins and strip their own beds and put all sheets, bathmats and towels in the upper malt house in the spa. Please also clean kitchen surfaces and load and run dishwashers. Thank you!

Unfortunately this security deposit has arisen out of necessity, and is a precaution for us, the owners. Mill End is a large, very old property, sleeping a lot of guests and sadly has been prone to occasional miss-use by some guests.

It is very rare for us to keep any of the deposit- maybe once a year – but if significant damage, breakage over and above the odd plate or glass which we would expect, loss or noise nuisance occurs, we will retain the necessary monies for repair, replacement or peace offerings to neighbours.

NB –  the owners reserve the right to change or swap the exact accommodation from that which has been booked, depending on repair, up-keep and decoration necessity – but guests will always be offered the same as or more than they have reserved, not less.
